About
Luxcapta provides a complete service for luminescence profiling and dating, helping clients understand how soils and sediments were formed, altered, and used through time. Our work supports projects in archaeology, heritage management, and environmental science, from the scale of individual features to entire landscapes.
Luminescence methods allow us to identify and date the construction, use, and development of sedimentary sequences. This includes archaeological features such as buried soils, earth banks, ditches, pits, terraces, and other deposits where reconstructing chronology is essential. By measuring when sediment grains were last exposed to sunlight, luminescence helps establish timelines for landscape change, construction events, and human activity — even where no artefacts or organic material survive.
Our clients include multi-disciplinary consultancies, archaeological and heritage organisations, academic researchers, and community groups. We collaborate closely to ensure high-quality scientific outcomes throughout the project cycle.
